San Francisco appoints first African-American female mayor

San Francisco made history on Wednesday, when an African-American woman, London Breed was elected the mayor of the city. Thanking her supporters and other candidates, Breed expressed her optimism for city's future. Her appointment comes in the wake of the death of Mayor Ed Lee. Breed will serve till 2020. Mark Leno, a Democrat opponent, who was ahead at one point but later conceded, wished Breed success.
