The Poona Pact was a 1932 agreement between Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on behalf of Dalits, lower caste Hindu leaders, and upper caste Hindu leaders on the reservation of electoral seats for the lower castes in British India's legislature. It was created on September 24, 1932, at the Yerwada Central Jail in Poona, India. It was signed on behalf of the oppressed classes by Dr. Ambedkar and on behalf of Hindus by Madan Mohan Malviya, Faraz Shah, Sana Ejaz, and Gandhi.
