The Battle of Assaye was a major battle fought between the Maratha Empire and the British East India Company during the Second Anglo-Maratha War. An outmanned Indian and British force led by Major General Arthur Wellesley (later Duke of Wellington) defeated a combined Maratha army led by Daulatrao Scindia and the Bhonsle Raja of Berar.
