The world's highest statue, the Statue of Unity, is dedicated to visionary Indian statesman Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It was formally revealed on October 31, 2018, to considerable excitement by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The bronze-clad statue is 182 meters tall, which is twice the height of the Statue of Liberty and 29 meters taller than China's Spring Temple Buddha, which previously held the title of world's tallest. The Statue of Unity, located in Gujarat near the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada River, was created by famous Indian sculptor Ram V. Sutar and took five years to complete.
