Ted Hughes, born Edward J. Hughes and died on October 28, 1998 in London, was an English poet and English Poet Laurate (1984-1998) whose most characteristic verse is devoid of sentimentality, emphasising the cunning and savagery of animal life in harsh, sometimes disjunctive lines.

Max Müller, the son of renowned poet Wilhelm Müller, was educated in Sanskrit, India's classical language, and other languages in Leipzig, Berlin, and Paris. In 1846, he moved to England and settled in Oxford, where he became deputy professor of modern languages in 1850. In 1868, he was appointed professor of comparative philology, and he retired in 1875. On October 28, 1900, he died at the age of 76.

Maxentius, full name Marcus Aurelius Valerius Maxentius, was a Roman emperor who reigned from 306 to 312. In 305, his father, Emperor Maximian, abdicated alongside Diocletian. Maxentius was passed over in favour of Flavius Valerius Severus, who was made a caesar and then an augustus in the new tetrarchy established after these abdications (two augusti with a caesar under each). He drowned in the battle of Milvian Bridge and died in 312.

James Cook, a renowned British Naval Captain, Navigator and Explorer who sailed the seaways and coasts of Canada and conducted three expeditions to Pacific Ocean was born on October 27th, in the year1728.
