He was named FIFA co-Player of the Century in 1999 and now serves as a global advocate for soccer and other social causes. Edson Arantes do Nascimento, the first child of Joo Ramos and Dona Celeste, was born on October 23, 1940 in Três Coraçes, Brazil. Known as "Dico" after Thomas Edison, he was named after him.<
