Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second Prime Minister of India was an Indian statesman. He was the one who promoted the white revolution, a national campaign to increase the production and supply of milk. He spent about seven years of his life in the jail while struggling for the independence of India from the Britishers. He was known as the man of great competence and integrity. He was the man with one vision who led India towrds its progress. He was deeply influenced by Mahatma Gandhi and hence were his great follower. Both of them even share the same date of birth too i.e. October 2nd.

Treaty of Nissa, a treaty of peace was signed by the Ottoman Empire and Russian Empire on October 3rd in the year 1739 to end up the Russio-Turkish War. As per the treaty of Nissa, Russians gave up their claim to Crimea and Moldavia. However, they were allowed to build a port at Azov that too without the right to have a fleet in the Black sea. The Austrian peace treaty compelled Russia to accept the peace at Nissa.

The code named 'Hurricane', the first British test was performed at the Montebello islands in Western Australia. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India was arrested in the year 1977, on October 4th in Delhi on the charges of corruption and misuse of authority. With her, four of her former ministers too got srrested by the CBI. Indira Gandhi was arrested for the two cases, both under the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act. However, Mrs. Gandhi called her arrest a "political one."

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was known to his many followers as Mahatma, or "the great-souled one," for his peaceful philosophy of passive resistance. Gandhi was imprisoned several times during his quest for non-cooperation and undertook various hunger strikes to protest the injustice of India's poorest classes, among other injustices. He was known for his ascetic lifestyle–he often dressed only in a loincloth and shawl–and devout faith. The man was born on October 2, 1869.

Janet Leigh, Tony Curtis' wife, is most known for her shower scene as Marion Crane in Alfred Hitchcock's classic thriller 'Psycho.' Leigh died at her Beverly Hills home in October 2004 at the age of 77 after suffering from vasculitis, an inflammation of the blood vessels, for a year.
