Cillian Murphy is an Irish stage and screen actor. He rose to notoriety as a result of his outstanding performances in both indie and mainstream films. Despite beginning his career as a rock musician, he turned down a record contract to concentrate on acting. In 1996, he made his theatrical debut as Darren in Enda Walsh's play 'Disco Pigs.' Cillian Murphy was born on May 25, 1976, in Douglas, Ireland, to Brendan Murphy, an employee of the Irish Department of Education, and his French-tutor wife. He has two sisters, Orla and Sile, as well as a brother, Páidi. Cillian, who grew up in Ballintemple, a Cork suburb, began playing music and writing songs when he was 10 years old.
