The film, Shree Pundalik, was launched on this day in 1912, about a year before Dadasaheb Phalke's full-length film, Raja Harishchandra. Shree Pundalik was a silent film directed by Ram Chandra Gopal Torne, popularly known as Dadasaheb Torne; it was the very first Indian film created, despite the fact that the film negatives were transferred to London for processing. The film had no dialogue and was a silent picture with no sound.
