Yogendra Singh Yadav was born on May 10, 1980, in the village of Aurangabad Ahir, Bulandshahr District, Uttar Pradesh, to the Kshatriya Yadav family. His father, Karan Singh Yadav, participated in the Kumaon Regiment during the Indo-Pakistan wars of 1965 and 1971. Yadav joined the Indian Army when he was 16 years and five months old. Subedar Major and Honorary Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav PVC is a former Indian Army commissioned officer who received the highest Indian military honour medal, the Param Vir Chakra, for his actions during the Kargil War. He is the youngest recipient of the medal, having gotten it when he was 19 years old.
