The sculptural arrangement The Motherland Monument is one of the exhibits of the Museum of Ukraine's World War II History. It is located on one of Kyiv's highest points and can be viewed from anywhere in the city. The Motherland Monument's designers wanted it to represent the tenacity of the national spirit that survived and triumphed in the face of adversity. On May 9, 1981, the monument and museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War opened to the public.
