Ernest Rutherford was a New Zealand physicist who became known as the father of nuclear physics. He lived from 30 August 1871 to 19 October 1937. According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, he is the greatest experimentalist since Michael Faraday (1791–1867). Aside from his work in his home country, he spent a significant portion of his career in Canada and the United Kingdom.
