Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born in Tottenham, England, on May 5, 1988, to a Welsh father, Marc Evans, and an English mother, Penny Adkins. Evans left the family when Adele was a child, and she was reared by her mother thereafter. Adele grew up with a love of music and began singing at an early age. She was influenced by the "Spice Girls," as well as Lauryn Hill, "Destiny's Child," and Mary J. Blige. Her musical talent drew the attention of record labels, and after graduation, she got a deal with 'XL Recordings.' She was also nominated for a 'Academy Award' for her song 'Skyfall,' which she wrote and composed for the James Bond film of the same name.
