Gulshan Kumar Dua (May 5, 1956 – August 12, 1997) was an Indian businessman and film and music producer who founded the Super Cassettes Industries Limited (T-Series) music label in the Bollywood industry. He founded T-Series in the 1980s and helped it become a major record label in the 1990s. He was murdered in 1997 by the Mumbai underworld syndicate D-Company. Guru Amar Das, born on 5 May 1479 and died on 1 September 1574, was the third of the Ten Gurus of Sikhism and became Sikh Guru on 26 March 1552 at the age of 73. Before becoming a Sikh (Shishya from Sanskrit), he was deeply moved by his nephew's wife, Bibi Amro, reciting a hymn by Guru Nanak on a lovely pilgrimage after being prompted to seek a guru.

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born in Tottenham, England, on May 5, 1988, to a Welsh father, Marc Evans, and an English mother, Penny Adkins. After the fall of the Vijayanagar Empire at the end of the 16th century, many Hindu families migrated to the southern districts of Tamilnadu, which were still calm under the benign rule of the Nayakas and Maratha monarchs. She was the younger sister of Anwar Hussain, a well-known actor. Her most well-known role was Radha in the Academy Award-nominated Mother India, for which she received the Filmfare Award.

Maharaja Chhatrasal (May 4, 1649 – December 20, 1731) was a mediaeval Indian warrior of the Bundela Rajput tribe who battled against Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and formed his own kingdom in Bundelkhand, becoming the founder of Panna State. Chhatrasal was born on May 4, 1649, in Kachar Kachnai, to Champat Rai and Lal Kunwar. He was a descendant of Orchha's Rudra Pratap. His forefathers were Mughal emperor's vassals. He was the father of Mastani, his daughter from his marriage to his Indian Muslim wife, Ruhaani Bai. Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, and its eponymous district are named after Chhatrasal. Several locations in Chhatarpur are named after him, notably the Maharaja Chhatrasal Museum.

Tipu Sultan, also known as the Tiger of Mysore or Tippoo Sahib by the British, was an Indian prince who fought against the East India Company's takeover of southern India. Public opinion in England regarded him as a terrible despot, while modern Indian nationalists lauded him as a liberation fighter, yet both are wishful thinking. When the morning of May 4th arrived, Tipu was informed that the omens were not favourable. He sought to ward off disaster by offering a gold purse, an elephant, a black bullock and two buffalo, a black nanny goat, and a black cloak and cap to Hindu priests and Brahmins, but in vain. Troops equipped with bamboo ladders for scaling the walls commenced the attack just after one o'clock. As the defenders withdrew, a British flag was hoisted in the breach within minutes. Tipu battled valiantly, dressed to the nines and loading and shooting muskets delivered to him by his servants as if he were at a sports event, but the odds were too high. He was injured, and his attendants attempted to rush him away in a palanquin, but he was slain by an anonymous British soldier for his jewellery. As darkness fell, a British party discovered the sultan's body behind a stack of bodies. He was laid to rest in his family tomb in the city.

Niccol di Bernardo dei Machiavelli's works are rarely rendered. Nicholas Machiavel, who lived from 3 May 1469 to 21 June 1527, was an Italian Renaissance diplomat, author, philosopher, and historian. His most famous work is The Prince (Il Principe), a political treatise written around 1513 but not published until 1532. He is widely regarded as the "Father of Modern Political Philosophy and Political Science."

Trisha Krishnan is a well-known and award-winning actress from both the Tamil and Telugu cinema industries. She rose to prominence in the Tamil film business with her parts in Saamy and Ghilli, and in the Telugu film industry with Varsham. The Tamil Iyer actress was born in Palakkad to Krishnan and Uma Krishnan and received her higher education at Ethiraj College in Chennai. She then became a model and earned the Miss Salem title in 1999. Trisha Krishnan made her cinematic debut when she was granted a modest cameo role in the film Jodi. However, Priyadarshan's Leysa Leysa was the first film in which she agreed to play the leading lady. Saddam married his first wife, cousin Sajida Talfah, in an arranged marriage in 1963. Sajida is Saddam's uncle and mentor Khairallah Talfah's daughter; the two were reared as brothers and sisters. Saddam's marriage was planned when he was five years old and Sajida was seven years old. They got engaged in Egypt during his exile and married in Iraq following Saddam's return in 1963.

Golda Meir was born on May 3, 1898, in Kiev, Ukraine, to Moshe and Bluma Mabovitch. In 1906, she and her family relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Mabovitch family had fled their home in part to avoid pogroms against Jews that were taking place in Russia at the time. Meir subsequently reflected on how her childhood fear of anti-Semitic (anti-Jewish) violence affected her eventual resolve to build Israel as a safe, secure Jewish state. Despite being elderly and in terrible health, Meir demonstrated her ability to the country during her first nine-month reign. As a consequence, her Labor Party won the elections in 1969. As a result, Meir was elected to a four-year term as Prime Minister.

The Kargil War, also known as the Kargil war, was a military confrontation conducted between India and Pakistan in the Kargil area of Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere along the Line of Control from May to July 1999. Local shepherds claim a Pakistani incursion in the Kargil area on May 3, 1999. In India, the battle is also known as Operation Vijay, after the Indian military operation that cleared up the Kargil area.
