Guru Har Krishan was the eighth and final Sikh Guru. When he replaced his father Guru Har Rai as a five-year-old on October 7, 1661, he became Sikhism's youngest guru. When Har Krishan's father, the seventh Sikh Guru, died at the age of 31, he selected Har Krishan as his successor. Guru Har Krishan was exceptionally smart and mature for his age, despite the fact that he was just a tiny child when he donned the Guru Gaddi. On March 29, 1857, at the Barrackpore parade field outside Calcutta, 29-year-old Mangal Pandey of the 34th BNI stated his intention to revolt against his superiors, incensed by the East India Company's previous acts. Sergeant-Major James Hewson went to investigate after being informed of Pandey's behaviour, only to be shot at by Pandey. Hewson had sounded the alarm. When Pandey's adjutant, Lt.
