James Joseph Parsons (born March 24, 1973) is a producer and actor from the United States. Parsons starred as Sheldon Cooper in the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory from 2007 until 2019. He has won several honours for his work, including four Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy. In 2018, Forbes projected his yearly compensation to be $26.5 million, making him the highest-paid television actor in the world. In 2011, Parsons made his Broadway debut as Tommy Boatwright in the play The Normal Heart, for which he was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance.
