Farida Jalal, who was born on march 14, 1949, is an Indian actress best known for her work in Hindi cinema. Jalal featured in approximately 200 films over his nearly fifty-year cinematic career. Jalal has garnered four Filmfare Awards and two Bengal Film Journalists Association Awards for her character-driven parts in indie film and supporting work in major Bollywood blockbusters. Jalal began her career with Taqdeer (1967). She went on to take main and supporting roles in a number of films during the 1970s and early 1980s. She is most known for her performances in Paras (1971), Henna (1991), and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), all of which earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.
