Albert Einstein, born March 14 1879, was a theoretical physicist of German origin who is largely regarded as one of the greatest physicists. Einstein is most recognised for creating the theory of relativity, but he also contributed significantly to the development of quantum mechanics. The two cornerstones of contemporary physics are relativity and quantum mechanics. The mass-energy equivalency formula E = mc2, derived from relativity theory, has been nicknamed "the world's most famous equation."
