Omar Abdullah, born 10 March 1970, is an Indian politician and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. On 5 January 2009, he became the 11th and youngest Chief Minister of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, after establishing a coalition administration with the Congress party. He was the final Leader of the Opposition in the former state Jammu and Kashmir Legislative House (Member of the Legislative Assembly from Beerwah seat of Budgam district)[6] before the assembly was dissolved in 2018 and the state of Jammu and Kashmir ceased to exist on August 6, 2019. The Government of India arrested him on February 6, 2020, under the Public Safety Act (PSA), which was repealed on March 24, 2020.
