The 1958 FIFA World Cup was held in Sweden from June 8 to 29, 1958, and was the sixth edition of the quadrennial football event for men's senior national teams. It was the first time that the FIFA World Cup was held in a Nordic country. Brazil won their first World Cup by defeating Sweden 5–2 in the final in the Stockholm district of Solna. The competition also marked the debut of Pelé, who was then 17 years old, on the international stage.
