P. T. Usha, a retired Indian track and field athlete, was born on June 27, 1964. She was born in the Kerala town of Kuttali. Since 1979, she has been associated with Indian athletics. She is frequently referred to as the "Queen of Indian track and field." Usha set national records in the 100 m and 200 m at the senior inter-state meet in Bangalore in 1981, clocking 11.8 seconds in the 100 m and 24.6 seconds in the 200 m. She won silver medals in the 100 m and 200 m at the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi, clocking 11.95 seconds and 25.32 seconds, respectively.
