"The Fast and the Furious," a criminal drama set in the clandestine world of street racing in Southern California, opens in theatres around the country on June 22, 2001. With The Fast and the Furious, director Rob Cohen delivered on a $38 million budget. Earning $40 million or more in the first weekend is amazing enough.
