Lal Bahadur Shastri (October 2, 1904 – January 11, 1966) was an Indian statesman and the country's second prime minister. He supported the Amul milk cooperative in Anand, Gujarat, and established the National Dairy Development Board to promote the White Revolution, a national campaign to increase milk production and supply. Shastri promoted the Green Revolution in India in 1965, highlighting the need to increase India's food production. On 6th June 1984, 13 days after Jawaharlal Nehru's death, Lal Bahadur Shastri becomes Prime Minister of India.
