The Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) is a four-wheeled battery-powered rover that was used on the Moon during the final three missions of the American Apollo programme (15, 16, and 17) in 1971 and 1972. It is commonly referred to as the Moon buggy, a play on the term dune buggy. On July 31, 1971, David Scott and his fellow Apollo 15 astronaut, James B. Irwin, became the first people to drive on the moon.
