Bal Gangadhar Tilak, also known as Lokmanya, was an Indian nationalist, educator, and independence activist. He was born Keshav Gangadhar Tilak on July 23, 1856, and died on August 1, 1920. He made up a third of the trio that comprised Lal Bal Pal. The movement for Indian independence was founded by Tilak.

Meena Kumari was an Indian actress and poet who appeared in Hindi films. She was born Mahjabeen Bano on August 1, 1933, and she died on March 31, 1972. She was active between 1939 and 1972 and was dubbed "The Tragedy Queen." Critics referred to Hindi film actress Kumari as "historically incomparable." She appeared in 93 movies over the course of a 33-year career, including Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Pakeezah, Mere Apne, Aarti, Baiju Bawra, Parineeta, Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai, Footpath, Dil Ek Mandir, and Kaajal.

Dhanpat Rai Srivastava, better known by his pen name Premchand, was an Indian author well-known for his contemporary Hindustani literature. He died on October 8, 1936. Social fiction in Hindi and Urdu was invented by Premchand. He was one of the first writers to address caste systems, the plight of working women, and other issues that were prevalent in late 1880s society.

Annie Besant was a British socialist, theosophist, feminist, author, orator, political party member, educationist, and philanthropist. She was regarded as a champion of human freedom and a staunch supporter of both Irish and Indian self-government.  Annie Besant founded the Home Rule League in Madras in September 1916. They shared the goal of achieving self-government in India.
