Captain Vikram Batra PVC was an Indian Army officer who served from September 9, 1974, to July 7, 1999. For his actions during the 1999 Kargil War, he was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration. During the three-month conflict, Batra was killed in action by Pakistani troops near Area Ledge, Point 4875 in Kargil, formerly Jammu and Kashmir.
