Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani, better known as Dhirubhai Ambani, was an Indian business magnate who founded Reliance Industries. He was born on December 28, 1932, and died on July 6, 2002. Ambani took Reliance public in 1977 and died in 2002 with a net worth of US$2.9 billion. For his contributions to trade and industry, he was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honour, in 2016.
