Lala Lajpat Rai was an Indian freedom campaigner who born on January 28, 1865. He was a key figure in the Indian independence struggle. Punjab Kesari was his popular moniker. He was one of the Lal Bal Pal triumvirate's three members. In 1894, he was also involved in the early phases of the Punjab National Bank and the Lakshmi Insurance Company. He died a few weeks after incurring serious injuries during a police baton charge while leading a nonviolent protest march against the all-British Simon Commission, which was set up by the UK to alter Indian constitutional law.
