Soumitra Chatterjee was an Indian cinema actor, director, dramatist, writer, singer, and poet who was born on January 19, 1935. He is recognised as one of the greatest and most important performers in Indian Bengali movie history. He is most recognised for his work with filmmaker Satyajit Ray, with whom he collaborated on fourteen films.
