Pakistan carried out its second attack throughout the day on February 27 within Indian-administered Kashmir. During this attack, a combat between Indian and Pakistani fighter planes ended in the downing of an Indian MiG-21 Bison by the Pakistan Air Force, after which its pilot, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, was taken prisoner by the Pakistani military and surrendered to India on March 1. Pakistani military authorities stated on February 27 that Pakistan has carried out an airstrike against numerous sites in Jammu and Kashmir. According to a military official, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) was able to lock onto Indian military sites.
