The Raman Effect was discovered on February 28, 1987, by physicist Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman. For his research on "The scattering of light and the discovery of the Raman effect," Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930.

The Godhra train burning happened on February 27, 2002, when 59 Hindu pilgrims and karsevaks returning from Ayodhya were murdered in a fire inside the Sabarmati Express train near the Godhra railway station in the Indian state of Gujarat. Pakistan carried out its second attack throughout the day on February 27 within Indian-administered Kashmir. Sarojini Naidu born on 13 February 1879 was a political activist and poet from India. She was a significant person in India's movement for independence from colonial authority, advocating for civil rights, women's emancipation, and anti-imperialistic beliefs. Because of the colour, imagery, and lyrical nature of her poems, Naidu acquired the moniker "the Nightingale of India" or "Bharat Kokila" by Mahatma Gandhi.

India awoke to the heartbreaking news that at least 14 people had died in a fire that ripped through a tavern in Mumbai's Lower Parel.
