Ashok Kumar died on December 10, 2001, at the age of 90, at his home in Chembur, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He died as a result of heart failure. Kumudlal Ganguly, better known by his screen name 'Ashok Kumar,' was a great cinema actor and producer who performed all main, supporting, and antagonist roles. He was referred to as "Dadamoni." He was a mentor to several well-known figures in Hindi film, including Hrishida. Later on, he transitioned to mature and character parts. He had appeared in over 275 films and over 30 Bengali plays. The film 'Kismet' introduced him as an anti-hero, and he rose to prominence, becoming the first main actor to make a million rupees from a single film
