With his innumerable poetry, novels, plays, and songs, Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941), better known as Gurudev, captivated the sphere of literature. His contributions are still firmly ingrained in India and worldwide. In 1883, Tagore married Mrinalini. He divorced his wife and never remarried in a period of 19 years. Even during his married life, it was considered that he desired personal company. "It would be lovely if you and I could be comrades in all our labour and in all our thoughts," he reportedly wrote to his wife in a letter, "but we cannot reach all that we seek."
