Shastri, Haraprasad was a well-known orientalist and Sanskrit scholar. Haraprasad Bhattacharya (Shastri) was born on December 6, 1853, in the hamlet of Kumira in the Khulna district. As a Sanskrit student at the Sanskrit College, he was required to study English Literature, Philosophy, History, Political Economy, Algebra, and Trigonometry according to the Calcutta University syllabus. As a result, he was able to maintain contact with his roots, Sanskrit, while also gaining proficiency in many areas of contemporary education.
