Kanaka Dasa was a Haridasa, a well-known Carnatic music composer, poet, philosopher, and musician. He is well-known for his keertanas and ugabhoga, which are compositions in Kannada for Carnatic music. For his writings, he employed basic Kannada language and native metrical styles, as did other Haridasas. Kanakadasa Jayanti is observed to honour their great poet, saint, philosopher, composer, and musician. On December 3, 1509, he was born.
