Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria (January 1, 1949 – December 2, 1993) was a Colombian drug lord and narcoterrorist who founded and led the Medelln Cartel. Escobar, dubbed "The King of Cocaine," is the wealthiest criminal in history, with an estimated net worth of US$30 billion at the time of his death—equivalent to $64 billion in 2021—during the 1980s and early 1990s, when his drug cartel monopolised the cocaine trade into the United States.
