Diana, Princess of Wales, died in the early hours of August 31, 1997, from injuries sustained in a car accident in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris, France. Diana's partner, Dodi Fayed, and the driver of the Mercedes-Benz W140 S-Class, Henri Paul, were pronounced dead at the scene. Trevor Rees-Jones, their bodyguard, was severely injured but survived the crash.
