The Bombay High Court was one of three High Courts in India established by Letters Patent granted by Queen Victoria on June 26, 1862, at the Presidency Towns. The High Courts Act of 1861 established it on August 14, 1862. Work on the current High Court building began in April 1871 and was completed in November 1878. Col. James A. Fuller, a British engineer, designed it. The first meeting in this building took place on January 10, 1879.
