He has received numerous honours, including thirteen Filmfare Award nominations for Best Performance in a Comic Role, and has won the award twice, for his work in Deewana Mastana (1997) and Dulhe Raja (1998). Mohnish Bahl (born 14 August 1961) is an Indian actor who works in both the film and television industries. Mohnish Bahl made his film debut in the supporting role of Bekarar, opposite Padmini Kolhapure and co. The film, which starred Sanjay Dutt, was a critical and commercial failure. Teri Bahon Mein, a remake of The Blue Lagoon starring Ayesha Dutt, Jackie Shroff's wife, was also a box office flop. Hum Saath-Saath Hain, released in 1999, is widely regarded as the film that launched Bahl's career. He has appeared in over 100 films and has received two Filmfare nominations.

Ayan Mukerji (born 15 August 1983) is a Hindi film director and producer from India. At the age of 26, Mukerji made his directorial debut with the coming-of-age comedy Wake Up Sid (2009), produced by Karan Johar. The film debuted to positive reviews and box-office results. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, a 2013 coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama, is one of the highest-grossing Hindi films.

The popular song "Bachna Ae Haseeno" from Hum Kisise Kum Naheen served as the inspiration for the movie's title (1977). It was in direct competition with God Tussi Great Ho, which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Priyanka Chopra, when it came out on August 15, 2008, the eve of India's Independence Day. The former struggled, but Bachna Ae Haseeno was a success at the box office, becoming Kapoor's first hit and the eighth-highest-grossing movie of the year.

Gautam Rode (born 14 August 1977) is a well-known Indian television actor who has appeared in shows such as Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, Lucky, Saraswatichandra, Suryaputra Karn, and Kaal Bhairav Rahasya 2. Rode made his television debut on Zee TV with the show Jahan Pyaar Mile. In the year 2000, he appeared in TV shows such as Rishtey, Apna Apna Style, and Thriller at 10. In 2002, he made his Bollywood debut with the film Annarth, in which he co-starred with Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty, and Preeti Jhangiani.

Sri Aurobindo (Aurobindo Ghose; August 15, 1872 – December 5, 1950) was an Indian philosopher, yoga guru, maharishi, poet, and nationalist. He also worked as a journalist, editing publications such as Vande Mataram. He joined the Indian independence movement and was one of its influential leaders until 1910, when he became a spiritual reformer, introducing his visions of human progress and spiritual evolution.

Between 1991 and 1999, Indian cricketer Pravin Kalyan Amre (born 14 August 1968) competed for his country. He participated in 37 One Day Internationals and 11 Test Matches (ODIs). Amre participated in domestic competition for a number of teams, including Mumbai, Railways, Rajasthan, and Bengal. He also represented Boland in South Africa. The highest batsman score in the Irani Trophy is still his 246 for Rest of India against Bengal. Sunidhi Chauhan (born 14 August 1983) is an Indian playback singer who began performing in local gatherings at the age of five and made her career debut at the age of thirteen with the film Shastra (1996). During the year, she won Meri Awaz Suno, the first singing reality show, and rose to prominence after recording "Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi" from Mast (1999). It earned her the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent, as well as a nomination for Best Female Playback Singer. She is well-known for her vocal versatility.

Shammi Kapoor (born Shamsher Raj Kapoor;who lived from  October 21, 1931 to  August 14, 2011) was an Indian film actor. He has two Filmfare Awards, one for Best Actor for Brahmachari (1967) and one for Best Supporting Actor for Vidhata (1982). He received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995.

Every year on August 15, India celebrates Independence Day. It commemorates the date in 1947 when the Indian Independence Act went into effect, establishing India and Pakistan as independent countries no longer subject to British imperialism.

The Bombay High Court was one of three High Courts in India established by Letters Patent granted by Queen Victoria on June 26, 1862, at the Presidency Towns. The High Courts Act of 1861 established it on August 14, 1862. Work on the current High Court building began in April 1871 and was completed in November 1878. Col. James A. Fuller, a British engineer, designed it. The first meeting in this building took place on January 10, 1879.
