Phoolan Devi, popularly known as "Bandit Queen," was a bandit who later became a female rights activist and politician from the Samajwadi Party and later served as a Member of Parliament. Devi was born into a poor family in rural Uttar Pradesh and experienced poverty, child marriage, and an abusive marriage before turning to crime. As a result, Devi sought refuge by fleeing and joining a bandit gang.
