Sushma Swaraj was an Indian lawyer, politician, and diplomat who is best known for holding the position of minister of external affairs during the first Narendra Modi administration (2014–2019). She passed away on August 6, 2019. She was a senior BJP leader and the second woman to hold the position after Indira Gandhi. Sushma Swaraj reportedly had a heart attack on August 6, 2019, in the evening. She was then taken to AIIMS New Delhi, where she later passed away from a cardiac arrest. The following day, she was cremated at the Lodhi crematorium in Delhi with full state honours.
