Sir Surendranath Banerjee, also known as Rashtraguru, was an Indian nationalist leader under British rule (10 November 1848 – 6 August 1925). He was one of the founding members of the Indian National Congress and founded the nationalist group known as the Indian National Association. In contrast to Congress, Surendranath favoured the Montagu-Chelmsford Reforms, and in 1919, he split from Congress to found the Indian National Liberation Federation.
