Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut and aeronautical engineer who was the first person to walk on the Moon. He was born on August 5, 1930. He was also a naval aviator, test pilot, and university professor. Armstrong, Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr., and Michael Collins launched the Apollo 11 spacecraft toward the Moon on July 16, 1969.

A resolution to revoke the temporary special status, or autonomy, granted to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution was approved by the Indian Parliament on August 5, 2019. Sir Surendranath Banerjee, also known as Rashtraguru, was an Indian nationalist leader under British rule (10 November 1848 – 6 August 1925). In contrast to Congress, Surendranath favoured the Montagu-Chelmsford Reforms, and in 1919, he split from Congress to found the Indian National Liberation Federation.

NASA states in 1996 that life might have once existed on Mars after examining meteorite ALH84001, which is thought to have come from that planet. The meteorite may contain traces of Martian life, according to a team of researchers led by NASA scientists and including lead author David S. McKay, who made the announcement on August 6, 1996. Few days later, Science published an article based on this. It was possible to see structures that some researchers believed to be the remains of bacterial-like lifeforms under a scanning electron microscope.
