A new law went into effect on August 1st, 1934, stating that upon Hindenburg's passing, the presidency would be abolished and its powers would be combined with those of the Chancellor. Hitler became the Führer and Reich Chancellor as of that day. Hitler assumed the role of supreme commander of all armed forces as head of state.

Bal Gangadhar Tilak, also known as Lokmanya, was an Indian nationalist, educator, and independence activist. He was born Keshav Gangadhar Tilak on July 23, 1856, and died on August 1, 1920. He made up a third of the trio that comprised Lal Bal Pal. The movement for Indian independence was founded by Tilak.

Meena Kumari was an Indian actress and poet who appeared in Hindi films. She was born Mahjabeen Bano on August 1, 1933, and she died on March 31, 1972. She was active between 1939 and 1972 and was dubbed "The Tragedy Queen." Critics referred to Hindi film actress Kumari as "historically incomparable." She appeared in 93 movies over the course of a 33-year career, including Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Pakeezah, Mere Apne, Aarti, Baiju Bawra, Parineeta, Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai, Footpath, Dil Ek Mandir, and Kaajal.

As one of NASA's Original Seven Mercury Astronauts, Lieutenant Colonel Virgil Ivan "Gus" Grissom has been a member of the American human space program since its inception in 1959. He achieved the distinction of being the first man to go into space twice with his second space mission on Gemini III.

Taapsee Pannu is an Indian actress who primarily appears in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil-language movies (born 1 August 1987). She has two Filmfare Awards to her name.Pannu briefly worked as a model before making her acting debut in the 2010 Telugu film Jhummandi Naadam. She later appeared in the 2011 Tamil film Aadukalam. Chashme Baddoor, a comedy starring David Dhawan, served as her debut Hindi film (2013).
