Irrfan Khan, also known simply as Irrfan, was an Indian actor who worked in both Indian and British and American films. Khan's career spanned over 30 years and earned him numerous accolades, including a National Film Award, an Asian Film Award, and six Filmfare Awards. Khan stated on Twitter in March 2018 that he has been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour. He sought therapy in the United Kingdom for a year before returning to India in February 2019. On April 28, 2020, he was hospitalised to Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where he began treatment for a colon infection. He died the next day as a result of the illness. His mother, Saeeda Begum, had died just four days before in Jaipur at the age of 93. Less than 24 hours later, his D-Day co-star, actor Rishi Kapoor, died of leukaemia.
