Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock KBE was born on August 13, 1899, and died on April 29, 1980. He was an English filmmaker who was widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in cinema history. He was dubbed the "Master of Suspense" and became as well-known as any of his actors as a result of his numerous interviews, cameo appearances in most of his films, and hosting and producing the television anthology Alfred Hitchcock Presents. His last public appearance came on March 16, 1980, when he announced the winner of the American Film Institute award for the following year. The next month, on April 29, he died of renal failure in his Bel Air home.
