Adolf Hitler was a German politician of Austrian origin who ruled Germany from 1933 until his death in 1945. He rose to power as the leader of the Nazi Party. His last public appearance came on March 16, 1980, when he announced the winner of the American Film Institute award for the following year. The next month, on April 29, he died of renal failure in his Bel Air home.
