The Battle of Attock was fought on April 28, 1758, between the Maratha Empire and the Durrani Empire. The Marathas, led by Raghunathrao (Raghoba), won a decisive victory, and Attock was taken. The battle is regarded as a huge success for the Marathas, who raised the Maratha flag in Attock. After three months, Raghunathrao left Punjab, appointing Maratha Sardar Narsoji Pandit and 4000 Maratha troops to guard the fort against Afghans. The combined forces of Huzurati Troops and Shinde Army conquered it. Shreenath Mahadji Shinde, his elder brother Tukojirao, and uncle Shambhuji Shinde commanded the Shinde Troops.
