Despite having minimal formal math instruction, Srinivasa Ramanujan was an Indian mathematician who made significant contributions to mathematics, including breakthroughs in number theory, analysis, and infinite series. Srinivasa Ramanujan died on April 26, 1920, at the age of 32, in Madras. Hepatic amoebiasis, caused by liver parasites widespread in Madras, was most likely the cause of his death. His remains were cremated.
