Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh was Queen Elizabeth II's husband. From Elizabeth's accession on 6 February 1952 until his death in 2021, he was the British monarch's consort, making him the longest-serving royal consort in history. Philip was born in Greece, into the royal families of Greece and Denmark; his family was exiled from the country when he was eighteen months old.
